Subject: November 8th - Porter Competition!

Here is some information about the upcoming FOSSILS Porter Competition taking place November 8, 2008. Judging will start at 2:00 PM.

The rules are simple:
Two 12 ounce unmarked long neck bottles (stay away from embossed bottles and scrape the label off), for each entry. Multiple entries from the same brewer are acceptable. Please use rubber bands to attach bottle labels (see form below).

The bottle caps must be plain or blacked out. We will be following the 2004 BJCP Guidelines for Porter.
The beer must be one of the following: 12A Brown Porter, 12B Robust Porter, 12C Baltic Porter or Speciality 23 (Porter only).

All entries must be turned in to me on or before Nov. 6, 2008. I (Ed Tash) will be at RichO's on the 6th to collect entries. Entries may be sent to RichO's (see address below), but they must be received by Nov. 6th. If you have a conflict and are unable to get your entry to me on time, contact Ed Tash at portercompetition@fossils.org We'll try to work it out.

FW: This Saturday! Craft Raffle!

Here's your chance to show your talent! The 2008 FOSSILS Craft Raffle!
The traditional craft raffle for the November FOSSILS meeting will have 'only' items made by members. The items can be anything, like homebrew, homemade wine, cider, (even a little shine if you got it). The items do not have to be beer or homebrew related. Home canned jams or jellies, anything you have made yourself and want to enter will be fine. The goal is to see what kind of talent and creativity the members have, and to raise money for the FOSSILS activities the coming year. I'll be bringing a couple bags of my homeroasted coffee to raffle. Please put your names on the items you bring and add a little note if you feel a description is necessary.
Let's have some fun with this and cheer on the lucky people who walk away with the handmade items representing the talents of our club!
The meeting is November 8th starting at 6:30pm in the Prost Room of NABC Brewing.
